Christmas 2017

December 24, 2017

It's hard to believe that Christmas is here already. It's a bittersweet time for me since my mother passed away last Christmas Eve, an hour after my last visit with her. She died on the same day as Scrooge's partner, Marley, and somehow I think that coincidence would have pleased her. Our sadness is brightened by the arrival of a daughter-in-law, who we love dearly.

I won't be near my computer tomorrow so I want to wish everyone a peaceful and serene Christmas, filled with love and joy.

Note: This picture, which has become something of a holiday tradition here at Chubby Chatterbox, was commissioned long ago as a design for a Christmas card, so long ago that I can't recall painting it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!

I have this feeling this will be that last year my mother will be celebrating Christmas. I went to see her in the care home today and strangely enough she was more alert and well, just enough to make me feel guilty that I won't be spending the day with her! Happy Christmas to you!!

Merry Christmas to you and your family, Stephen! Our Christmas will be different this year, too, since we lost both of my husband's parents this year. It surely feels different when all of a sudden you are the most senior person in the entire family.

I love the light from the fireplace in your painting. Sad that you lost your mom on this date. That year of first times without them is hard. Merry Christmas to all the Chatterboxes!

Losing loved ones around a holiday is always hard. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Loved the giant dog. between two eager children. Great touch.

I hope you had a lovely holiday. I understand the bittersweet - even though my mother died in 2005 I still miss her most at Christmas (as the song says).

I wish you the very best in the coming year. Sadly, my father-in-law passed away on Christmas Eve and his funeral service won't be until New Years Eve. Combined with my stepfather passing on Christmas Day in 1996 and my mother being diagnosed with terminal cancer on Christmas, 1982, the holidays are becoming sad affairs for my family. But, we stay strong! All my best to you and yours!
